2008 Annual Business Dinner Celebrated the City’s Economic Growth
A new era of business development was heralded at the 2008 Annual Business Dinner of Exeter Chamber of Commerce & Industry at Sandy Park Conference Centre this month.
Over 250 leading businessmen and women came together to celebrate Exeter's business achievements over the past year including new developments within the Chamber and its growing membership of over 425 businesses.
Derek Phillips, Chamber Chairman said, ‘Princesshay is having a continuing beneficial effect and recent results from flybe, one of our largest members are encouraging, together with their announcement of a unique training academy boosting further quality jobs and opportunities. Exeter appears to be surviving the credit crunch better than most cities and the Chamber is in a strong position to help support businesses through these challenging times.'
In the last 12 months, the Exeter Property Initiative Group and City Centre Retail Consortium have become an integral part of the Chamber, with each group forming sub-committees to develop industry specific initiatives.
Speakers John Hirst Chief Executive Met Office, Steve Perryman MBE Director of Football, Exeter City Football Club and Councillor Paul Smith, Lord Mayor of Exeter paid tribute to the city's business achievements and growth. The event was generously sponsored by flybe.com, Barclays Commercial, KallKwik, Signs Express and Trugs.
