Better Regulation Event
BRE is leading the regulatory reform agenda - working across Government to ensure that regulation is transparent, accountable, proportionate, consistent and targeted. BRE's role is to challenge new legislation and simplify, improve or even remove existing legislation. They have an ambitious target to reduce the administrative burden of regulation on business, public and third sectors by around £3.5 billion a year - or 25% - by 2010.
As part of their work, they have regular contact with organisations like the Chamber, where they update them on their better regulation work, and listen to any concerns or suggestions on how to improve regulation. Derek Phillips, Chamber Chairman will be representing you during their forthcoming event - any member with an issue they would like raised should contact us as soon as possible. The event is being held on Tuesday 2 December.
Exeter Chamber have already won a number of victories on your behalf as a result of these meetings, including clarification of criminal records check policy for employers taking on work experience pupils and avoiding the need for the 'Topsham ferry operators' to have an Ocean Going Masters Certificate!
