Exeter Business Survey September 2010
BUSINESS CONFIDENCE HITS AN ALL TIME LOW
The Exeter Chamber of Commerce & Industry member survey from the 3rd quarter of 2010 reveals an increased drop in confidence for the first time in over 12 months.
Over 18% of members surveyed reported a low confidence, an increase of 50% on the previous quarter. The number employed also showed a decline in new jobs but the percentage showing a reduction was at a very low figure of 5%.
Derek Philips, Chairman of Exeter Chamber of Commerce & Industry said, "This quarter's survey shows that Business is obviously anxious for the immediate future with the unknown result of the Government's Spending Review very much a concern. Sales and Margins are still under pressure but the jobs situation for the future looks more positive."
