Exeter Chamber and Business School launch partnership
DOZENS of businesses across the city turned out to hear how they can benefit from a pioneering new partnership launched by Exeter Chamber and Exeter Business School.Previously, Exeter Chamber had been approached by many training providers wishing to offer courses to members, but the Chamber was unconvinced about the quality of provision.
Now, the Chamber has teamed up with Exeter Business School which will deliver nationally-accredited qualifications and bespoke training at a discounted rate to Chamber members.
The innovative partnership was launched last week at Exeter Business School's city centre premises in Queen Street.
All chamber members will be given 20 per cent off courses run by the school, one of the biggest business training providers in Devon and part of Exeter College.
They will also get free training business needs analysis, advice on beating the credit crunch and a programme of breakfast seminars featuring guest speakers, all helping to boost profits.
Chris Lorimer, Exeter College's Director of Business and Marketing, said, ‘We are delighted to launch this initiative with Exeter Chamber and are confident that Chamber members will get the best training deal on the market. The training we provide is flexible and bespoke, taking place at either clients' premises or at our Business School premises depending on training needs. Chamber members will also have a chance to experience a series of Taster Seminars we are running in various subjects over the next few months, so businesses can try before they buy.'
Derek Phillips, Chairman of Exeter Chamber said, ‘We believe that Exeter Business School is the right choice for a partnership with the Chamber and this initiative is extremely worthwhile. We look forward to working closely with them and want to encourage members to take advantage of this great offer.'
To celebrate the partnership launch, Exeter Business School donated £300 and £150 in course vouchers as raffle prizes. Tom Keeping from Progressive System Ltd, a leading contractor of roofing and cladding systems and their associated fabrications in the South West, won first prize. Tom Keeping said, ‘As a long standing member of the Chamber we are delighted with the new partnership with Exeter Business College. We certainly will be taking advantage of the training opportunities that the College has to offer and are pleased at the discount that Chamber members enjoy. Winning this prize is great for us and we will start by looking at supervisory training courses for our first line managers.'
Ian Roebuck from Midas Group, one of the largest independent property services providers in the UK, won second prize. Ian Roebuck said, "The selection of courses is excellent and highly relevant to business needs and we will certainly put the vouchers to good use.'
