Devon Community Foundation Grassroots Challenge - A Cost Effective CSR Solution

Devon Community Foundation is Devon's local charity for local people.  Every year it makes hundreds of grants to small small voluntary and community groups doing valuable work helping local people in need.  It's one of 56 Foundations across the UK which make over £70 million in grants each year

In Exeter to date it has supported over 150 groups with over £700,000 in grants and is currently running the Exeter Positive Steps grant programme to help vulnerable long term, unemployed people back on the road to work.

The Foundation has recently launched its Grassroots Challenge which means can match all donations made to it until September 2009 (and by 50% until March 2011), turning every £100 into over £250.

The £1 million match funding available is from government and is part of a national initiative to kick-start investment from business into local community projects. 90p of every £1 donated goes direct to local causes and money raised through the Challenge will build  a £3 million Endowment Fund for Devon, ensuring a permanent source of support for local voluntary and community groups.

Joining the Grassroots Challenge is a cost-effective, easy and flexible way for local companies to fulfil their CSR remit and  invest back into the local community. The Challenge can even be used to build a Named Company fund which will continue to give grants every year to local causes in the company name.   To find out more about the Grassroots Challenge click : here

Exeter Citizen's Advice Bureau will also join us on 14 January to highlight the services they provide for commerce and industry.

Lunch places will be available to book from 7 January 2009 on the soon to be launched, brand-new Chamber website.
