Rt. Hon Baroness Elizabeth Butler-Sloss GBE joins Exeter Chamber for the Exeter Business Dinner  

Rt. Hon Baroness Elizabeth Butler-Sloss, Britain's former most senior woman high court judge, is joining Exeter Chamber as the first guest speaker at Exeter Business Dinner, sponsored by Kitson Hutchings Solicitors. The prestigious black-tie event, the highlight of Exeter's business year, will be held at Sandy Park Conference Centre on Friday 9 October.  

Rt. Hon Baroness Elizabeth Butler-Sloss from Devon, was President of the Family Division of the High Court from October 1999 until April 2005. She was appointed to the House of Lords as an independent peer in 2006.  She was registrar at the Principal Registry of Probate (later Family Division) 1970-79; a Judge of the High Court Family Division 1979-88 and first lady Lord Justice of Appeal 1988-99. 

Some of her most famous cases include the ruling of James Bulger's killers to lifelong anonymity and blocking a man's legal battle to see a test-tube baby daughter, who was conceived after his relationship with the mother broke up.

The Exeter Business Dinner will begin at 7pm with a sparkling wine reception, followed by a sumptuous four-course feast. Guests can choose from a vegetarian or meat dinner with delicious, local produce on the menu including Devon Blue, Poached Pear and Candied Walnut Salad and a platter of West Country Cheeses served with Otter Vale Chutney, Celery, Grapes & Savoury Biscuits.
