Spencer Dale, Executive Director and Chief Economist Bank of England Chamber speaks at Chamber lunch

Spencer Dale, Executive Director and Chief Economist at the Bank of England, was guest speaker at the Chamber of Commerce lunch on Thursday 24th September, where an audience of 170 members gathered to hear his outlook on the UK economy.

Spencer Dale is responsible for the Monetary Analysis & Statistics Divisions of the Bank and the Bank's Regional Agencies.  As a member of the Monetary Policy Committee, he undertakes regular visits around the UK to talk to firms about business conditions and explain the MPC's projections for inflation and economic growth.

Spencer is particularly pleased to be returning to Exeter as he attended Exeter College before going on to graduate from the University of Wales in 1988 with a BSc in economics and the University of Warwick in 1989 with an MSc in economics.

Derek Phillips, Chairman of Exeter Chamber said, We are very pleased that Spencer found the time in his busy schedule to visit his hometown.  Chamber members were interested to hear his views on the current economic climate and his thoughts for the future.'
