Stuart Michael Associates is a leading independent firm of consulting engineers providing civil, environmental, structural design and transportation services.Established as a limited company in 1999, SMA opened its first satellite office in Exeter in 2008 to service existing contracts in the South West.  Areas of expertise include transportation planning, traffic studies, highway design, flood risk assessments, sustainable drainage solutions, acoustic monitoring & analysis, infrastructure planning and structural designTraffic Impact Assessments: The requirement for detailed transportation assessment has become an integral part of the land planning and development process.  We have the capacity to undertake large area multi-modal and micro-simulation modelling of tranport networks, as well as the analysis of the impacts of travel demand at a more local level.Flood Risk Assessments: All forms of flooding and their impact on the natural and built environment are material planning considerations.  SMA undertake FRA's in accordance with the requirements of PPS25.Highway & Drainage Design: SMA offers a comprehensive civil engineering design service for the detailed design of Section 278 and 38 adoptable highway works and S104 adoptable sewers.  Similarly we can provide detailed designs for private roads and drains, surface water attenuation facilities and foul water pumping stations.Structrual Design: SMA has considerable skill and experience in the design of superstructures for the commercial, leisure, educational and residential markets.CDM Co-Ordinator: SMA can provide CDM co-ordinator services for projects that are notifiable under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2007.
