South West Communication Group become a Patron of the UK’s leading youth charity, The Prince’s Trust.

The Prince’s Trust helps disadvantaged young people to get their lives on track. Its programmes give vulnerable young people the practical and financial support needed to stabilise their lives, helping develop self-esteem and skills for work.

Three in four young people supported by The Prince’s Trust move into work, education or training.

The Trust, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, has helped over 825,000 young people since 1976 and supports over 100 more each day.

By becoming a Patron of the Trust, swcomms is supporting community investment activities and helping disadvantaged young people to make a success of their lives in the Exeter and Devon area.

swcomms has committed to taking part in fundraising challenges and work directly with young people on voluntary programmes to support The Prince’s Trust.

Brian Lodge, managing director of swcomms, said: “As a business, we have always supported local charities that help children and young people living in and around our area. We are honoured to be a Patron of The Prince’s Trust and everyone at swcomms is looking forward to the fundraising activities and opportunities to work directly with young people through mentoring and volunteering.”

Dermot Finch, south region director at The Prince’s Trust, said: “It’s great to have the support of swcomms for our work in Exeter and Devon and together we hope to help even more disadvantaged young people to get their lives back on track.

“Last year, we helped over 300 young people in Exeter and Devon to move into employment and training. At least 3,000 young people are struggling to find work in Exeter and Devon, so it’s vital we build links with local companies and help more young people gain the skills they need for jobs available.”
