Investment and confidence positive for Exeter business
Posted on: July 12th 2018

The latest Exeter Chamber of Commerce Business survey, presented at the quarterly meeting of the Bank of England Exeter Panel, showed that there is continued growth and confidence in Exeter’s business community.

All businesses surveyed indicated medium or high confidence for business conditions, 78% and 22% respectively, with no businesses reporting low confidence: a response that has only been recorded once in the last decade.

Of the businesses surveyed, a comparably high number of 33% recorded an increase in margins and alongside this another high figure of 64% reported that they had made investment over the last quarter. 86% of businesses expect to make investment over the next 3 months.

Derek Phillips, vice president of Exeter Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the panel meeting, said:“This strong picture of investment is a great sign and signifies that there is a continuing sign of confidence in the future of Exeter.”
