On Saturday 14th July, staff at Devon law firm Kitsons took to the hills and successfully completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in aid of the British Heart Foundation and in memory of their friend and colleague, Mark Batten.

Three teams of walkers and one team of runners completed the 24 mile challenge in the soaring summer sun; which involved climbs and descents totalling 2,153 metres across Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough in Yorkshire.

Mark, who was Chief Cashier at Kitsons, passed away suddenly in March 2014. He worked for Kitsons for over 35 years and was a prominent and well liked member of the firm. Mark had strong links with British Heart Foundation.

Over £1,500 has been raised from donations, bake sales and mufti days across Kitsons’ three offices in Exeter, Torquay and Plymouth.

Rhodri Davey, Joint Managing Partner at Kitsons said: “Saturday was a fantastic experience for all involved. It was a really tough day and tested everybody’s endurance, but what a brilliant achievement for everyone who participated. The Yorkshire Three Peaks is not an easy challenge and everyone at Kitsons is very proud of the commitment their colleagues have made to this fundraising event. Not only have they signed up to the day, but they have raised money over the recent months in the name of Mark Batten. As Mark had a link with British Heart Foundation, it seemed the natural choice for this fundraising effort and we would like to thank everyone who has donated for this very worthy cause – it is a great tribute to Mark.”
