South West Communications Group can now supply protection against web-borne threats to office, field and home-based workers.

Working in conjunction with technology hardware specialists Cisco, swcomms is offering a cloud security platform that provides the first line of defence against threats on the internet wherever staff members are working.

The Cisco Umbrella product uses the internet’s infrastructure to block malicious destinations before a connection is ever established. By delivering security from the cloud, not only can businesses save money, but they will also benefit from more effective security.

ICT director John Holdstock said: “This is a security product that suits the modern working practices of today’s businesses. We can no longer assume that all members of staff sit at a desk using a PC. Cyber security products are needed to protect the mobile workforce too and to cope with the millions of threats that lurk on the internet.

“This platform protects businesses from malware, phishing and ransomware attacks, which can have a devastating effect on a corporate network, while also actively blocking inappropriate web content.”

swcomms is a Cisco partner with accredited engineers who are skilled in deploying security solutions.

The Umbrella product complements swcomms’ existing security portfolio that includes firewalling, content filtering and advanced protection, such as intrusion detection and prevention systems.
