Exeter Depot, Project Update
Work on the Exeter Depot project is progressing well and you might have noticed some of the new buildings going up on site as well as the large excavations for the new train maintenance facility. We have been busy since the start of the year, thank you for your patience while Station Road was closed and we successfully diverted the gas main that runs through the site.
What work is coming up?
As we move into spring and summer we will be looking to take advantage of the improved weather and additional hours of daylight, and plan to carry out groundworks and concrete placement as well as installing the structural steelwork for the new main building.
How will the work affect the local community?
There will be minimal impact to the local community, although the increased deliveries will have the potential to cause delays along Station Road. We will try to avoid deliveries during rush hour periods to minimise this.
We will also be extending our working hours to undertake critical tasks which will include working until 7pm and also working Saturdays and some Sundays. Weekend working will only be carried out between 7:30am and 6pm.
The next drop-in session to advise on the project progress will be held later in the summer, where you will hear about the new bridge that to be installed over Station Road for supporting services into the new maintenance shed. This will be installed overnight during a road closure. We will give more details in the next update and during the drop-in session.
