As part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening innovation and enterprise locally, the Heart of the South West LEP has been selected to take part in the Regional Entrepreneurship Acceleration (REAP) programme developed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The aim is to develop a supportive environment or ‘ecosystem’ for innovation and entrepreneurship within the region. Such an ecosystem will typically provide businesses with access to the funding, talent, workspaces, peer networks, infrastructure or all those thing innovators and entrepreneurs need to start and scale their business.
We would like to hear from SMEs about their experience of the type of support that they get now and how they would improve that for the future. The results of this survey will help the LEP and its partners, enhance the support the SMEs get in the future. I hope that you can help us by circulating this link to your networks. This online survey is open until 25 July 2020 and the results will be captured by the University of Exeter.
The survey seeks information from SMEs on:
· their perceptions of the current state of the local innovation ecosystem
· their experiences and perspectives of successful entrepreneurs in the HotSW
· the barriers and enablers to success start- and scale-up in the area
· perceptions of the degree to which HotSW stakeholder support start- and scale-up initiatives, and what they could do to improve in these areas.
The University of Exeter will be collecting and analysing this survey information on behalf of the LEP and local partners. We will be also be inviting some SMEs to take part in in depth interviews as part of this research.
