The south west’s last remaining independent commercial radio station, Radio Exe, has launched a crowdfunding initiative in a bid to retain its local ownership.
The Exeter-based station depends wholly on advertising, which have reduced dramatically since the pandemic began in the spring – even though evidence is that commercial radio listening has increased. The crowdfunder is open until 24 October – with special rewards designed to benefit advertisers for the next 12 months.
