In 2021 many people will be thinking about starting a new business. This could be because they are facing redundancy in their current position, or perhaps more positively, they have used the time at home to re-think what their work goals should be. It could just simply be a case of ‘new year, new start…’
Whatever the motivation behind it, these prospective business owners will be entering a complex world and will be facing many decisions they might not have encountered before.
Join us on Thursday, 28 January when Patrick Tigwell, Partner and Head of Small Business at Thomas Westcott will be joined by Company Commercial Solicitor at Wollens Solicitors, Rebecca Devilly-Atkinson. They will be examining issues that prospective business owners will need to be aware of and will answer questions that include the following:
- Should a new business be set up as a sole trade or limited company?
- Should a new business be registered for VAT straight away?
- What are the legal implications for a business owner of setting up a new business?
Additionally, we are delighted to have Jo Caine from the Exeter Chamber of Commerce and Rosie Bates from Exeter City Council who will be explaining the ‘Exeter Works’ initiative, which brings together people who are looking for work and opportunities with employers and other resources. This is an initiative that Thomas Westcott are proud to be the Accountancy Sponsor for.
There will also be an opportunity to ask our experts questions during a live Q&A session, however, it would be appreciated if you can submit your questions prior to the session so the speakers can identify any common themes and cover as much as possible.
