All the changes planned by Stagecoach to bus routes across Devon

In response to customer feedback, from Sunday 1st November Stagecoach South West is introducing some new timetables across their South West Network. After continually monitoring service levels, the local bus operator have identified a few areas where they are adding in some extra journeys to give you more frequent connections and more seats per hour.

Over the last few months Stagecoach has worked hard to restore frequent services across the region, in many cases to service levels in place prior to the COVID19 pandemic.

Back in September the company extended their E1/E2 routes, which connects the major residential areas of Exwick and Redhills, back through Exeter High Street, following strong commuter feedback. This latest set of changes will now see the E1/E2 service get additional capacity and an increased frequency of every 10 minutes. Additional buses have also been added to the popular 1 service, which will now be connecting Exeter with Pinhoe, Broadclyst and Cullompton every 15 minutes.

Stagecoach South West Managing Director Mike Watson said; “ Our buses play a vital role in keeping staff connected to their places of work, by adding earlier journeys to some of our routes we can insure we can better cater for shift work. We’ve also closely looked at passenger travel across the day, and increased frequency in some areas to insure we have more seats available for those important shopping trips and to keep students connected to schools and colleges.”

More buses are also coming for Torbay, with the number 12 service, to Newton Abbot and Brixham, now operating every 10 minutes so there’ll be 12% more seats to choose from between Brixham, Newton Abbot and Torquay.  The 35A/35C serving the hospital and The Willows will increase from 2 buses an hour to every 20 minutes. The uplift will also see the introduction of two early morning commuter journeys on the popular 7 route, linking Paignton and Torquay with major employers on Honiton Road and Sowton in Exeter. The new express X7 trips will leave Paignton at 0430 and 0535 or Torquay at 0444 and 0549. Workers will be able to get to Matford Park & Ride in Exeter for 0522 or 0627. For employees commuting to Hontion Road for buses arrive at 0534 or 0639 or for Sowton at 0536 or 0641.
